THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, YESTERDAY, HELD A PUBLIC HEARING ON A TAX IMPLEMENT FINANCING AND TAX ABATEMENT AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF ROSEAU FOR THE PROPOSED Eleven01 APARTMENT PROJECT. THE COUNTY BOARD APPROVED THE ‘TIF’ AND TAX ABATEMENT UNANIMOUSLY. THE APARTMENT BUILDING, WHICH IS PROJECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN EARLY 2022, WOULD BE OWNED BY THE ROSEAU ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, THIS WEEK, HEARD AN UPDATE ON NORRIS CAMP AND THE RED LAKE WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA FROM SCOTT LAUDENSLAGER (low-dunn-slogg-ur) AND GRETCHEN MEHMEL (may-mull) WITH THE MINNESOTA D.N.R.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD HAS RE-APPOINTED JACK SWANSON TO THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA MULTI-COUNTY HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY FOR ANOTHER FIVE YEAR TERM.

 

A PUBLIC VISITATION, FOLLOWING MN STATE COVID GUIDELINES, FOR JORDAN MCKINNON OF WARROAD WILL BE HELD FRIDAY AT ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH IN WARROAD. A PRAYER SERVICE WILL START AT 7 PM. JORDAN MCKINNON WAS 29.

 

A PUBLIC VISITATION, FOLLOWING MN STATE COVID GUIDELINES, FOR WAYNE KNUTSON OF WARROAD WILL BE HELD FRIDAY (4-7 PM) WITH A 7:00 PRAYER SERVICE AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN WARROAD. A PRIVATE SERVICE WILL FOLLOW. WAYNE KNUTSON WAS 72.

 

THE NORTH DAKOTA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES NARROWLY FAILED A BILL THAT WOULD HAVE ALLOWED POLICE TO PULL OVER A VEHICLE IF THE DRIVER OR ANY PASSENGERS WERE NOT WEARING SEAT BELTS.  THE LEGISLATION ALSO WOULD HAVE REQUIRED ALL PASSENGERS TO WEAR A SEAT BELT, RATHER THAN JUST FRONT-SEAT PASSENGERS. IF THE BILL HAD PASSED, NORTH DAKOTA WOULD HAVE JOINED 35 OTHER STATES. THE BILL WHICH WAS DEFEATED ON A 45-49 VOTE, WAS ONLY SUGGESTING A MODEST $20 FINE.

 

A THREE JUDGE MINNESOTA COURT OF APPEALS PANEL IS QUESTIONING ENBRIDGE AND THE MINNESOTA PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE LINE 3 PIPELINE IS NEEDED, WITH TWO OF THE JUDGES EXPRESSING DOUBT THAT IT IS.
OPPONENTS OF THE PIPELINE AND GOV. TIM WALZ’S MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE MAINTAIN THE PUC ERRED IN GRANTING THE PROPOSED PIPELINE’S CERTIFICATE OF NEED IN FEBRUARY BECAUSE ENBRIDGE DID NOT DEMONSTRATE A LONG-RANGE DEMAND FOR OIL.

 

A 3-YEAR-OLD BOY WAS KILLED IN A FARM ACCIDENT LAST THURSDAY NEAR ALDRICH, MINN. ELLIOT JARES, 3, HAD BEEN RUN OVER BY A SKID-LOADER WORKING ON THE PROPERTY, ACCORDING TO THE SHERIFF’S INCIDENT REPORT. THE OPERATOR OF THE SKID-LOADER WAS A FAMILY MEMBER
