YESTERDAY, 16 YEAR OLD KAITLYN KNUTSON OF PLYMOUTH WAS DRAWN AS THE FIRST WINNER OF A $100,000 MINNESOTA SCHOLARSHIP AS PART OF THE KIDS DESERVE A SHOT CAMPAIGN, FOR THOSE 12-17 YEAR OF AGE WHO HAVE BEEN VACCINATED. FORUM COMMUNICATIONS, THE PARENT COMPANY OF WDAY-TV, HAS REACHED AN AGREEMENT WITH RED RIVER BROADCAST COMPANY TO ACQUIRE KVRR-TV, THE FARGO BASED FOX AFFILIATE, AND DULUTH BASED KQDS-TV. THE ACQUISITION WILL STILL BE SUBJECT TO REGULATORY APPROVAL.

IT WAS ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY AND THEN ABRUPTLY RETRACTED THAT ROCK BAND THE FOO FIGHTERS WOULD BE PLAYING HUNTINGTON BANK STADIUM, HOME OF THE GOPHERS, IN AUGUST OF 2022. THE AGREEMENT WAS APPARENTLY IN PLACE, BUT THE STADIUM GROUP HAS DECIDED THEY WILL NOT ADHERE TO THE BAND’S COVID-19 POLICIES, LIKELY MEANING ATTENDEES WOULD NEED TO BE FULLY VACCINATED OR SHOW A NEGATIVE TEST. THE BAND IS STILL LOOKING TO BOOK A TWIN CITIES SITE FOR THE TOUR.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR PATRICIA “PATSY” RITA (VON ENDE) HUNTER OF WARROAD WILL BE HELD THIS SATURDAY (2 PM) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU. PATRICIA WAS 80 YEARS OLD.

A CAR DRIVEN BY TWO MICHIGAN RESIDENTS COLLIDED WITH A SEMI-TRAILER ON MONDAY AFTERNOON, JUST NORTH OF CROOKSTON, ON HIGHWAY 75. BOTH HAD NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES, WHILE THE TRUCK DRIVER REQUIRED NO ASSISTANCE.

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH REPORTED OVER 12,000 NEW CASES OF COVID-19, THAT WOULD COVER THE TIME SPAN OF THE THANKSGIVING WEEKEND. ROSEAU COUNTY ACCOUNTED FOR 35 CASES IN THAT REPORT.
