ACCORDING TO THE RED LAKE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, ERIC REINBOLD HAS BEEN FOUND AND ARRESTED. HE WAS LOCATED IN A WOODED RURAL PROPERTY JUST NORTH OF OKLEE AND TAKEN INTO CUSTODY WITHOUT INCIDENT AROUND 3 AM THIS MORNING. HE’S THE PRIME SUSPECT IN THE DEATH OF HIS WIFE.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL, THIS WEEK, HELD A PUBLIC HEARING ON A PROPOSED REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE CITY; PART OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A 272 THOUSAND DOLLAR LOAN FROM THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA MULTI-COUNTY HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY TO THE ROSEAU ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY FOR THE ELEVEN-01 APARTMENT PROJECT. THE ROSEAU PLANNING COMMISSION HAD ALSO HELD A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE MATTER.
IN A RELATED MATTER, THE CITY COUNCIL ACCEPTED A ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR DONATION FROM POLARIS INDUSTRIES, AND FIVE THOUSAND DOLLAR DONATIONS FROM LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER AND KARL MANUFACTURING FOR THAT APARTMENT PROJECT.

THE ROSEAU CITY MASTER PLAN, DEVELOPED JUST BEFORE AND AFTER THE 2002 FLOOD, IS DUE FOR REVISION. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR TODD PETERSON SAYS THE PLAN WAS LAST REVISED IN 2011; HE’S SUGGESTING ANOTHER REVISION NEXT YEAR.

NORTHWEST REGIONAL LIBRARY DIRECTOR JIM TROJANOWSKI IS ASKING THE CITY OF ROSEAU FOR A ONE PERCENT FUNDING INCREASE FOR 2022; THAT WOULD AMOUNT TO 559 ADDITIONAL DOLLARS. TROJANOWSKI SAID THE STATE’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE FIVE COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM HASN’T INCREASED IN A DOZEN YEARS.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL HAS APPROVED A SEVENTY-FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR INVESTMENT IN CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FOR THE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS DISTRICT, CONTINGENT ON THE FEASIBILITY OF INSTALLATION OF THOSE LIGHTS. THE ROSEAU CIVIC & COMMERCE ASSOCIATION WOULD ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO THE COST.

A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL FOR GLORIA BAADE OF BAUDETTE WILL BE HELD TOMORROW (2 PM) AT SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH IN BAUDETTE. VISITATION WILL BE ONE HOUR PRIOR. GLORIA BAADE WAS 85.

 

THERE WILL BE A FORMAL RECOGNITION OF SPONSORS THAT HELPED BRING THE SPLASH PAD AND OTHER PROJECTS TO THE SOUTH RIVERVIEW PARK IN ROSEAU, AT THE PARK TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT 5:00. BEGINNING AT 5:30, THERE WILL ALSO BE A RECOGNITION OF FORMER MAYOR JEFF PELOWSKI, THANKING HIM FOR HIS 22 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY.
