THE NORTHLAND RANGE AND GUN CLUB WILL HOLD THEIR ANNUAL MEETING NEXT TUESDAY, THE 17TH, WHERE ELECTIONS WILL BE HELD. A BBQ AND FUN SHOOT BEGIN AT 5:30, WITH THE MEETING BEGINNING AT 8:00.

TWO PEOPLE WERE INJURED AFTER A MAN DROVE HIS PICKUP INTO A MOTEL ROOM AT THE LAKES INN IN DETROIT LAKES, LEAVING THE TWO TRAPPED IN THE DEBRIS. FRANK AND JACKLYN BENNINGER, BOTH 77 YEARS OLD, WERE REMOVED, AND EVENTUALLY TRANSPORTED TO A FARGO HOSPITAL WITH SEVERE INJURIES. THE PICKUP DROVE AWAY AFTER THE CRASH, BUT WAS SPOTTED A SHORT TIME LATER. 53-YEAR OLD WADE OLDS WAS ARRESTED FOR CRIMINAL VEHICULAR OPERATION CAUSING GREAT BODILY HARM UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL.

THE ROSEAU TIMES REGION HAS A STORY ON A DISPUTE BETWEEN WAGON WHEEL RIDGE, IT’S OWNER GLEN BRAZIER, AND THE MINNESOTA DNR, KITTSON SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT, AND MINNESOTA BOARD OF SOIL AND WATER RESOURCES. THE DISPUTE MOSTLY FOCUSES ON A DITCH AND CULVERT DREDGED ON THE PROPERTY THAT PROTECTED NEARBY KARLSTAD FROM EXCESS WATER. THE STATE IS ORDERING BRAZIER TO DAM THE CULVERT AND FILL THE DITCH SAYING THAT IT IS IN VIOLATION OF WETLAND REGULATIONS.

The 2026 Special Olympics USA Games will be held at the University of Minnesota. Gov. Tim Walz says he’s “incredibly proud” to have Minnesota host the seven-day event. It’s expected to draw as many as 4,000 athletes, 10,000 volunteers, 1,500 coaches and 75,000 fans from the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. The games for children and adults with intellectual disabilities will include 15 Olympic-type team and individual sports and five demonstration sports.

THE STATEWIDE WALLEYE LIMIT REMAINS AT SIX FISH DAILY, UNLESS SPECIFIC REGULATIONS ARE IN PLACE FOR THAT LAKE, AND A BASIC ADULT FISHING LICENSE FOR THE YEAR IS $25 FOR RESIDENTS, $51 FOR NON.

A REMINDER THAT ALL FIRST HALF TAXES ON REAL ESTATE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY ARE DUE BY MAY 16.

ROSEAU ELEMENTARY MUSIC PROGRAMS FOR THOSE IN THE FIRST, SECOND, AND THIRD GRADE ARE THIS THURSDAY. THEY WILL HAVE PERFORMANCES FOR THE PUBLIC AT BOTH 10 AM AND 2 PM.
