THIS IS TOWNSHIP DAY IN MINNESOTA,  WHEN MANY TOWNSHIPS HOLD THEIR ANNUAL MEETING. THERE ARE 32 ORGANIZED TOWNSHIPS IN ROSEAU COUNTY,  AND NEARLY EIGHTEEN HUNDRED TOWNSHIPS IN THE STATE.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  LAST WEEK, HEARD THAT WATER MAIN PROJECTS ARE PLANNED THIS SUMMER FOR AN AREA NEAR THE CITY CENTER AND THE CENTER STREET BRIDGE,  AND NEAR A POLARIS RE-MODELING PROJECT.THE CITY WILL ADVERTISE FOR BIDS, ALTHOUGH THE COST ESTIMATE IS SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER THAN THE BUDGETED AMOUNT.

A FUNDRAISER FOR ROSEAU’S  STATE TOURNAMENT-BOUND  PEE-WEE AND BANTAM HOCKEY TEAMS IS THIS EVENING  (4-7 PM)  AT GENE’S IN ROSEAU.

MINNESOTA’S  COMMISSIONER OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT,  STEVE GROVE,   SAYS THE STATE WILL HAVE  240 THOUSAND UNFILLED JOBS BY THE YEAR  2022;  DUE TO A WORKFORCE SHORTAGE. CAMERON MACHT IS A RESEARCH ANALYST FOR  ‘DEED’ …. ‘DEED’  COMMISSIONER STEVE GROVE SAYS TRAINING PROGRAMS THAT ENGAGE MORE MINORITY FOLKS COULD HELP THE SHORTFALL.

A SIXTEENTH ANNUAL  INTERNATIONAL RAINY/ LAKE OF THE WOODS WATERSHED FORUM IS TOMORROW AND THURSDAY AT RAINY RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN INTERNATIONAL FALLS. TODD SELLERS,  FROM THE LAKE OF THE WOODS SUSTAINABILITY FOUNDATION IN KENORA,  SAYS THE WATER QUALITY IN LAKE OF THE WOODS IS IMPROVING

PUBLIC INPUT ON A PROPOSED BORDER TO BORDER TOURING ROUTE FOR HIGH CLEARANCE VEHICLES WILL BE TAKEN TOMORROW EVENING  (6-8 PM)  AT THE LAKE OF THE WOODS SCHOOL IN BAUDETTE. THE PROPOSED ROUTE WOULD USE PUBLIC ROADWAYS FROM LAKE SUPERIOR TO THE NORTH DAKOTA BORDER …. TIM WILLIAMSON,  WITH THE MINNESOTA  DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES. THE PROPOSED ROUTE DOES NOT EXTEND INTO ROSEAU COUNTY.

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD WAS SCHEDULED TO MEET  TODAY FOR A TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT SESSION. THAT MEETING HAS BEEN RE-SCHEDULED FOR NEXT MONTH,  DUE TO A CONFLICT WITH TOWNSHIP ELECTION DAY.

THE MINNESOTA D.N.R.  HAS OPEN HOUSES SCHEDULED THIS MONTH ON DEER HUNTING AND DEER HUNTER ISSUES.THE FIRST OF THOSE AREA MEETINGS ARE MARCH 25TH AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY COURTHOUSE,  AND THAT SAME EVENING AT THE WARROAD FORESTRY OFFICE.ANOTHER MEETING IS MARCH  27TH AT THE LAKE OF THE WOODS HIGH SCHOOL IN BAUDETTE.

MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR MARION CARLSON OF RURAL ROSEAU ARE MONDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR. MARION CARLSON WAS  90.

THE ROSEAU HIGH SCHOOL NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY HAS A BLOOD DRIVE NEXT WEDNESDAY  (March 20).

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH FOR TOMORROW NIGHT AND THURSDAY, DUE TO AN EXPECTED SNOW/ RAIN/ FREEZING RAIN COMBINATION IN ROSEAU COUNTY. GREG GUST,  AT THE GRAND FORKS NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE,  SAYS THAT EVENT COUPLED WITH LAST WEEKEND’S SNOWSTORM SHOULD NOT HAVE A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON THE SPRING FLOOD FORECAST ….

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD MEETS IN SPECIAL SESSION TODAY AT NOON, TO TALK ABOUT THE PROCESS FOR HIRING A SUPERINTENDENT TO REPLACE LARRY GUGGISBERG,  WHO IS RETIRING THIS SUMMER.
