ROSEAU’S ANNUAL CRAZY DAYS IS AUGUST FIRST THROUGH THE THIRD. EVENTS INCLUDE THE ROSEAU HIGH SCHOOL STREET BAND, AND A BOUNCY HOUSE FOR KIDS.

 

THE RED RIVER FARM NETWORK SAYS THE CURRENT STATE OF THE AGRICULTURAL ECONOMY IS A “MIXED BAG”. A BELL BANK DIRECTOR OF AGRIBUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, LYNN PAULSON, SAYS “THERE IS SOME OPTIMISM FOR COMMODITY PRICES” AFTER FIVE OR SIX DIFFICULT YEARS FOR AGRICULTURE.

 

THE MINNESOTA D.N.R. IS STARTING A TWO YEAR PILOT PROJECT NEXT MONDAY IN WHICH THE MOOSE RIVER DIKE ROAD WILL BE OPEN TO A-T-V TRAFFIC FOR A TWO MONTH PERIOD (UNTIL SEPTEMBER 15TH).
LOCAL RESIDENTS HAVE ASKED FOR A-T-V ACCESS FOR THE PAST TWO DECADES.
JOHN WILLIAMS IS THE DNR’S REGIONAL WILDLIFE MANAGER; HE’S BASED IN BEMIDJI.
HIGHWAY-LICENSED VEHICLES HAVE BEEN ALLOWED ON THAT DIKE ROAD FROM MID-JULY TO MID-SEPTEMBER SINCE SHORTLY AFTER THE MOOSE RIVER IMPOUNDMENT WAS COMPLETED.

 

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA EXTENSION HAS SUMMER SMALL GRAINS PLOT TOURS THURSDAY IN HUMBOLDT AND STRATHCONA. THE STRATHCONA STOP IS AT THE JIM KUKOWSKI FARM (1 PM). JARED GOPLEN, A U of M EXTENSION EDUCATOR, SAYS FARMERS ACROSS MINNESOTA ARE MORE OFTEN LOOKING AT SMALL GRAINS AS A CASH CROP OPTION.

VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR. BURIAL IS AT GREENWOOD CEMETERY IN STRATHCONA.

OLSON LIVED AT ONE TIME IN ROSEAU, WHEN HIS FATHER WAS AN AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION TEACHER.

A POLARIS 65TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION IS AUGUST 17TH IN ROSEAU. THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL, LAST WEEK, APPROVED A PARADE, STREET DANCE AND KIDS A-T-V COURSE FOR THAT EVENT.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD HAS A SPECIAL WORK SESSION THIS EVENING TO TALK ABOUT THE DIRECTION FOR A PROPOSED SCHOOL FACILITIES IMPROVEMENT PROJECT.
A SURVEY OF SCHOOL DISTRICT RESIDENTS SHOWED SUPPORT FOR A REFERENDUM ON THE PROJECT; BUT NOT AT THE 62 MILLION DOLLAR WISH LIST LEVEL.

 

A WARROAD MARKET, FEATURING HAND-CRAFTED AND LOCALLY GROWN PRODUCTS, IS SATURDAY IN THE GREEN SPACE NORTH OF THE MAINSTREET BAR AND GRILL.
THE EVENT IS THE SECOND SATURDAY IN JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER.
