THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL, LAST NIGHT,  RECOGNIZED EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR WORK;  ESPECIALLY DURING A DIFFICULT WINTER …. DAVID DROWN IS ROSEAU’S  CITY SUPERINTENDENT. AMONG THE  EMPLOYEES RECOGNIZED LAST NIGHT WAS  GARY PRZEKWAS,  WHO HAS WORKED FOR THE CITY OF ROSEAU FOR NEARLY THIRTY YEARS.

THE WARROAD AREA COMMUNITY FUND HAS ANNOUNCED THE AVAILABILITY OF GRANT DOLLARS. ONE IS THE WARROAD AREA EDUCATION ENDOWMENT FUND, TO BENEFIT STUDENTS,  STAFF AND PROGRAMS;THE OTHER IS THE GAYLORD GUNDERSON EDUCATION FUND, WHICH IS FOR THE PURCHASE OR REPAIR OF EQUIPMENT, WITH PREFERENCE FOR VOCATIONAL OR TECHNICAL PROGRAMS.SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS MAY 3RD.WARROAD ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS HAVE MORE INFORMATION;  THEY’RE  KATHY SCHEVING,  TODD PIETRUSZEWSKI,  MAUREEN MARVIN,  CHRISTINE MARVIN,  MARK BERTILRUD AND BRENDA BAUMANN.

THE WEBSITE  WalletHub  SAYS MINNESOTA IS THE LEAST STRESSED STATE IN THE NATION.THAT’S BASED ON METRICS LIKE AVERAGE HOURS WORKED PER WEEK,  AND THE SHARE OF ADULTS GETTING ADEQUATE SLEEP.THE REST OF THE TOP FIVE ARE UTAH,  MASSACHUSETTS,  NORTH DAKOTA AND SOUTH DAKOTA.IOWA WAS 6TH AND WISCONSIN 8TH ON THE LEAST-STRESSED LIST.THE MOST STRESSED STATES ARE LOUISIANA,  MISSISSIPPI AND ARKANSAS.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR BILL CARLSON OF WATERTOWN, SOUTH DAKOTA AND FORMERLY OF THE NORTHWEST ANGLE ARE TODAY AT NOON AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR.BILL CARLSON WAS  82.

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR WANDA OLSON OF WARROAD IS TOMORROW AT TWO AT ST MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH IN WARROAD.   VISITATION IS THIS EVENING   (5-7 PM)   AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN WARROAD.WANDA OLSON WAS  79.

THE ROSEAU LUNCH AT THE LIBRARY SERIES STARTS A WEEK FROM THURSDAY  (April 11)  WITH CONNIE JOHNSON ON A CHINA EXPERIENCE. JOE LAURIN HAS A PRESENTATION ON EXPLORING LAKE OF THE WOODS APRIL 18TH;  AND CARLA LINDEMOEN ON EASTERN AFRICA IS APRIL 25TH.

POLARIS INDUSTRIES IN ROSEAU IS STARTING TO HIRE SUMMER STUDENT HELP.HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR TONY PEKAREK SAYS THE COMPANY NEEDS ABOUT FIFTY STUDENT WORKERS ….

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED A SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT HIRE OF AN INTENSIVE IN-HOME COUNSELOR.  THAT SERVICE HAD BEEN CONTRACTED,  BUT THE COUNTY HASN’T HAD THE SERVICE AVAILABLE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. ROSEAU WOULD BE THE ONLY COUNTY IN MINNESOTA WITH THAT STAFF POSITION.

THE NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE BASEBALL SEASON IS UNDERWAY.THAT ST PAUL-BASED UNIVERSITY IS LED BY SENIOR CAPTAIN AARON KRAHN OF ROSEAU;  KRAHN IS HITTING  .385 WITH A TEAM-BEST 3 HOMERS AND 14 RBI’S. NORTHWESTERN COACH DAVE HIEB;  HIS TEAM PLAYS AT GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS TOMORROW.

THE NORTHERN LIGHTS CONCERT ASSOCIATION SERIES CONTINUES SATURDAY EVENING WITH AN APPEARANCE BY THE JERSEY TENORS. BRIAN NOONAN SAYS THE AUDIENCE REACTION TO THEIR TOUR HAS CROSSED DEMOGRAPHIC LINES …. THOSE NORTHERN LIGHTS SHOW ARE AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL THEATRE.

A ROSEAU DUCKS UNLIMITED BANQUET IS FRIDAY EVENING AT GENE’S IN ROSEAU.

THE BADGER AREA COMMUNITY FUND SPONSORS A MARDI GRAS DINNER,  RAFFLE AND DANCE SATURDAY EVENING; TO HELP FUND A GAZEBO.
