LIFECARE PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTOR JULIE PAHLEN SAYS NEARLY TWENTY-THREE HUNDRED ROSEAU COUNTY RESIDENTS HAVE RECEIVED TWO DOSES OF PFIZER OR MODERNA COVID VACCINE;

AND ANOTHER TWELVE HUNDRED HAVE GOTTEN A FIRST DOSE OF THE VACCINE.

LIFECARE IS OFFERING A LIMITED AMOUNT OF JOHNSON & JOHNSON SINGLE DOSE VACCINE THIS WEEK.

MORE THAN EIGHTY PERCENT OF ROSEAU COUNTY RESIDENTS AGED SIXTY-FIVE AND OLDER ARE FULLY VACCINATED.

 

SUBWAY IN ROSEAU HAD A LOCAL FUNDRAISING EFFORT LAST WEEK, DONATING A PORTION OF DAILY SALES TO VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS. THIS AFTERNOON, THEY WILL PRESENT CHECKS TO THOSE ORGANIZATIONS TOTALING OVER $2,400.

 

THE WORK ON THE CN RAIL CROSSING ON COUNTY STATE HIGHWAY 74 SCHEDULED FOR TODAY HAS BEEN CANCELLED, SO THERE WILL BE NO NEED FOR THE ROAD CLOSURE.

 

BIDS FOR ROSEAU’S ELEVEN-01 APARTMENT PROJECT ARE EXPECTED IN JUNE. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR TODD PETERSON SAYS THAT BID PROCESS IS A COMPLICATED ONE. THE APARTMENT BUILDING WOULD BE OWNED BY THE ROSEAU ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY.

MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH OFFICIALS SAID THEY’D TRACKED A GROWING NUMBER OF COVID-19 CASES IN PEOPLE WHO’D ATTENDED THE NORTHLAND YOUTH WRESTLING ASSOCIATION 2021 STATE WRESTLING TOURNAMENT IN SIOUX FALLS. THE EVENT BROUGHT IN MORE THAN 2,000 ATHLETES AND SPECTATORS. MINNESOTANS FROM CASS, LE SUEUR, LYON, MORRISON, MURRAY, RICE, TODD, WRIGHT AND YELLOW MEDICINE COUNTIES HAD TESTED POSITIVE FOR THE ILLNESS AFTER GOING TO THE TOURNAMENT. EIGHT SCHOOLS, INCLUDING SIX PUBLIC AND TWO PRIVATE, HAD REPORTED CASES LINKED TO THE EVENT.

 

CONFIRMED CASES OF LYME DISEASE IN MINNESOTA JUMPED FROM AN AVERAGE OF 913 EACH YEAR IN THE 2000’S TO AN AVERAGE OF 1,203 CASES EACH YEAR IN THE 2010’S, A 32% INCREASE, ACCORDING TO THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH.
