A NOTE FROM THE CHAIRPERSON OF THE LAC QUI PARLE VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT SAYS THAT ROSEAU HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AND ATHLETIC DIRECTOR IVAN HIRST HAD DECLINED THEIR OFFER FOR HIM TO BECOME THAT DISTRICTS NEW SUPERINTENDENT.

THERE IS A VOLUNTEER CLEANUP EFFORT BEGING ORGANIZED TODAY AT PARKS THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF ROSEAU. VOLUNTEERS ARE INVITED TO THE CITY PARK THIS EVENING FOR A COOKOUT.

ROSEAU’S CITY WIDE RUMMAGE SALE IS SATURDAY, MAY 8TH. THERE ARE VARIOUS SKIME AREA RUMMAGE SALE ORGANIZED FOR MAY 1ST, WITH BETHESDA LUTHERAN CHURCH OFFERING A BAKE SALE AND SACK LUNCH FROM 8:00-2:00.

THE GREENBUSH MIDDLE RIVER SCHOOL HOSTS A COVID VACCINATION CLINIC NEXT WEDNESDAY FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS 16 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER. STUDENTS UNDER 18 DO NEED PARENTAL CONSENT. FORMS ARE OUTSIDE THE MAIN OFFICE.

YOUTH BALL REGISTRATION IN ROSEAU OPENS TOMORROW. THAT IS FOR T-BALL, INTRO, AND ROOKIE LEAGUES THAT SPAN FOUR TO EIGHT YEARS OF AGE.

SANDRA KIDDOO HAS BEEN NAMED THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF NORTHLAND COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE. KIDDOO WAS SELECTED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE MINNESOTA STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21. THE APPOINTMENT WILL BECOME EFFECTIVE JULY 1. SHE SUCCEEDS DENNIS BONA, WHO RETIRED DECEMBER 2020. KIDDOO MOST RECENTLY HAS SERVED AS CHIEF ACADEMIC OFFICER AT HAZARD COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE IN KENTUCKY.

 

MINNESOTA HOUSING FINANCE COMMISSIONER JENNIFER HO SAID HER AGENCY POSTED AN ONLINE WEBSITE — RENTHELPMN.ORG — WHERE PEOPLE CAN APPLY FOR HOUSING ASSISTANCE GRANTS. PEOPLE CAN ALSO CALL 211, A HELPLINE WITH STAFF AVAILABLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PROGRAM. THE STATE, LARGE MINNESOTA CITIES AND COUNTIES AND NINE NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBES RECEIVED ABOUT $400 MILLION FOR HOUSING ASSISTANCE FROM THE FEDERAL COVID RELIEF ACT THAT CONGRESS PASSED IN DECEMBER. STATE OFFICIALS EXPECT TO RECEIVE MORE THAN $200 MILLION IN ADDITIONAL FEDERAL HOUSING FUNDS FROM THE AMERICAN RELIEF PLAN THAT PASSED LAST MONTH. ELIGIBLE RENTERS CAN GET CAUGHT UP ON OVERDUE RENT AND UTILITIES DATING BACK TO MARCH 13, 2020.
