THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, THIS WEEK, APPROVED A CALL FOR BIDS TO REPAIR COUNTY ROAD SEVEN (IN THE NORTHWESTERN PART OF THE COUNTY).
THAT ROAD HAD CATASTROPHIC FLOOD DAMAGE LAST FALL.

THE BOARD ALSO APPROVED A GRANT AGREEMENT FOR A BRIDGE REPLACEMENT ON COUNTY ROAD 119, EAST OF BADGER.

 

TORNADO DRILLS ARE SCHEDULED TODAY ( 1:45 PM AND 6:45 PM ) AS PART OF SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL, MEETING IN SPECIAL SESSION MONDAY EVENING, ASKED CITY ATTORNEY MICHELLE MOREN TO RESEARCH THE POSSIBILITY OF A PRO-RATED REFUND OF ON-SALE LIQUOR LICENSE FEES FOR BARS AND RESTAURANTS;
WHICH AREN’T ALLOWED OPEN DURING THE STAY-AT-HOME ORDER IN MINNESOTA.

POLARIS “A” AND “B” PRODUCTION LINES STARTED UP THIS WEEK, AND THE COMPANY IS PLANNING TO BRING BACK THE “C” LINE NEXT WEEK.
MEANWHILE, MANY POLARIS EMPLOYEES ARE WORKING FROM HOME DURING THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS.

MINNESOTA LAWMAKERS WERE BACK AT WORK TUESDAY, DEALING WITH ISSUES RELATED TO COVID-19.
ANNE MAVITY, WITH THE MINNESOTA HOUSING PARTNERSHIP, SAYS SHE HOPES THE LEGISLATURE WILL APPROVE ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS IN EMERGENCY FUNDING FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN’T PAY THEIR RENT.
MAVITY SAYS THE PLAN WOULD HELP RENTERS, BUT WOULD ALSO BENEFIT LANDLORDS.

 

THE WARROAD SCHOOL HAS A KINDER-CAMP EVENT NEXT WEEK FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS VIA ZOOM TECHNOLOGY.
KINDER-CAMP A-Z IS NEXT WEDNESDAY (April 22/ 4 PM) AND NEXT THURSDAY (April 23/ 7 A.M.).
THE WARROAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IS ASKING PEOPLE WITH KINDERGARTEN AGED KIDS TO INDICATE WHETHER THEY’LL TAKE PART BY TOMORROW.

 

THE ROSEAU AREA FOOD SHELF, WHICH IS OPEN TUESDAY AFTERNOONS ( 2 – 4:30 PM ) HAS NOT SEEN AN ANTICIPATED INCREASE IN DEMAND SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC AND SUBSEQUENT BUSINESS SLOWDOWNS.
TERESA McDONNELL OF WANNASKA IS A MEMBER OF THE ROSEAU FOOD SHELF BOARD.
SHE SAYS THE FOOD SHELF IS DOING CURBSIDE PICKUP IN THEIR PARKING LOT, AND CAN MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR FOOD DELIVERY.

 

SERVICES FOR MARJORIE MADISON OF ROSEAU WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE, WITH INTERNMENT AT MOE-ROSE CEMETERY.
AMONG THE SURVIVORS IS HER SISTER, LOUVIC MATTSON, OF ROSEAU.
MARJORIE MADISON WAS 85.

 

DOUGLAS VACURA HAS DIED AT AGE 78.
HE STARTED A CHURCH 45 YEARS AGO, NOW KNOWN AS THE WARROAD COMMUNITY CHURCH.

 

MICHAEL RICHTER OF WARROAD HAS DIED AT AGE 51, AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA HOSPITAL IN MINNEAPOLIS.
