ON FRIDAY THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCED THAT RESIDENTS OF THE NORTHWEST ANGLE TRAVELING BY CAR THROUGH CANADA TO THE UNITED STATES WILL BE EXEMPT FROM PRE AND POST ARRIVAL COVID TESTING. SENATOR AMY KLOBUCHAR, REPRESENTATIVE MICHELLE FISHBACH AND OTHER LEADERS HAVE WORKED DILIGENTLY WITH OFFICIALS ON BOTH SIDES TO MAKE THIS A PRIORITY.

FISHBACH SAYS SHE IS PLEASED WITH THE MOVE, BUT NOTES “THAT NOTHING SHORT OF A FULL BORDER RE-OPENING CAN BEGIN TO MITIGATE THE MANY NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF THE INDEFINITE BORER CLOSURE ON NORTHWEST ANGLE LIVES AND LIVELIHOODS.”

 

MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVANCES WILL BE HELD IN ROSEAU AND BADGER NEXT MONDAY. WILD 102 WILL AIR A MEMORIAL DAY MESSAGE BEGINNING AT 8:30, WITH A LOST AT SEA PROGRAM TAKING PLACE AT THE CENTER STREET BRIDGE AT 9:00 AND THEN CONTINUING AT VETERAN’S MEMORIAL PARK.

BADGER’S ACTIVITIES WILL BEGIN AT 10:00 AT THE BADGER CREEK BRIDGE, AND THEN CONTINUING AT THE VETERAN’S MEMORIAL.

 

ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON HIGHWAY 1 FROM THIEF RIVER FALLS TO GOODRIDGE WILL RESUME ON MONDAY. MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO USE CAUTION AND EXPECT LANE CLOSURES AND FLAGGERS.

 

A CLICK IT OR TICKET CAMPAIGN WITH THE MINNEOSTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY BEGINS TODAY, CONTINUING THROUGH JUNE 6, WITH EXTRA EMPHASIS PLACED ON SEAT BELT USAGE BY LAW ENFORCEMENT. PRELIMINARY REPORTS SHOW 38 UNBELTED MOTORISTS DIED AS OF MAY 21 COMPARED WITH 25 THIS TIME LAST YEAR,

 

THE FITNESS CENTER AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL WILL OPEN FOR PUBLIC USAGE BEGINNING JUNE 7TH, WITH HOURS ON MONDAY-SATURDAY FROM 6A-9P.

 

MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR ADAM LYKKEN OF WARROAD WILL BE HELD THIS WEDNESDAY (11 AM) AT ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH IN WARROAD. VISITATION WILL BE ONE OUR PRIOR WITH MILITARY HONORS BY THE WARRAOAD AMERICAN LEGION. ADAM LYKKEN WAS 31.
