THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL HAS SET A MARCH  29TH  PUBLIC HEARING FOR A CONDITIONAL USE APPLICATION FOR CHAD FULTON,  WHO’S WANTING TO REMODEL THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE FORMER FULTON ACCOUNTING BUILDING INTO TWO APARTMENTS;   AFTER FINDING NO COMMERCIAL RENTERS.

THE COUNCIL’S PLANNING COMMISSION  ALSO HAS A MARCH  29TH PUBLIC HEARING FOR KATE HAMMER,  WHO’D LIKE TO OPEN A HOME POTTERY STUDIO IN HER CENTER STREET HOME.   SHE’S CURRENTLY AT THE MALUNG SCHOOL.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  THIS MONTH, HEARD THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF AERONAUTICS HAS MONEY AVAILABLE FOR  2021.    THE CITY WILL APPLY FOR FUNDING TO UPGRADE THE SEPTIC SYSTEM AT THE ROSEAU MUNICIPAL AIRPORT.

 

THE ROSEAU ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY IS STILL LOOKING AT A STICK-BUILT OPTION FOR IT’S PLANNED   Eleven01  APARTMENT PROJECT.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR TODD PETERSON HAD TOURED A MODULAR CONSTRUCTION OPTION IN OWATONNA.

PETERSON SAYS HE’S OPTIMISTIC THE  E.D.A. WILL RECEIVE GRANT FUNDING FROM  MINNESOTA HOUSING FOR THAT  37 UNIT BUILDING.     A MARCH  25TH DECISION WILL BE MADE BY MINNESOTA HOUSING.

 

ROSEAU CITY RESERVES ARE AT JUST OVER  SEVEN-POINT-SIX MILLION DOLLARS.

 

A VISITATION FOR TERRY BREKKE OF GREENBUSH WILL BE HELD AFTER 6 PM, ON FRIDAY, MARCH 25TH AT COLLINS FUNERAL CHAPEL IN GREENBUSH, FOLLOWING MN STATE COVID GUIDELINES. TERRY BREKKE WAS 71.

 

OVER THE WEEKEND, GOVERNOR TIM WALZ ANNOUNCED SOME VACCINATION MILESTONES IN THE STATE OF MINNESOTA. OVER ONE MILLION MINNESOTANS HAVE RECEIVED AT LEAST ONE DOSE OF THE VACCINE, WITH NEARLY 62 PERCENT OF THOSE 65 AND OLDER HAVE GOTTEN ONE DOSE. THEY ALSO SAID THAT NEARLY 55 PERCENT OF EDUCATORS, SCHOOL STAFF AND CHILD CARE PROVIDERS HAVE RECEIVED THE VACCINE.

MINNESOTA ALSO RANKS 3RD IN THEIR SUCCESS IN THE VACCINE ROLLOUT, THAT’S FOR THE PERCENTAGE OF DOSES THAT THE STATE HAS RECEIVED COMPARED THE NUMBER OF DOSES THAT HAVE ADMINISTERED.

LAST WEEK MINNESOTA RECEIVED OVER FORTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOSES OF THE JOHNSON AND JOHNSON VACCINE, THAT IS THE THIRD TO COME TO THE MARKET.

 

THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL ALSO NAMED MINNESOTA AS THE BEST STATE FOR CHILDREN DURING THE PANDEMIC. THAT LOOKED AT THINGS SUCH AS FAMILIES ABILITY TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR CHILDREN IN THE AREAS OF FOOD, ORDINARY HOUSEHOLD ITEMS, AND TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO TOOLS FOR REMOTE LEARNING.

 

IN 2018, THE MINNESOTA POLLUTION CONTROL AGENCY FOUND 52 PERMIT VIOLATIONS AT THE MARVIN WINDOWS AND DOORS FACTORY IN WARROAD. THEY NOW SAY THAT ALL OF THOSE VIOLATIONS HAVE SINCE BEEN RESOLVED AS PART OF ENFORCEMENT ACTION, WITH THEIR NEXT FACILITY INSPECTION SCHEDULED FOR THIS SUMMER. THE MPCA IS CURRENTLY WORKING WITH MARVIN WINDOWS AND DOORS TO UPDATE THE AIR EMISSION PERMIT FOR THE FACTORY.
