LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER OFFICIALS SAY VOLUMES ARE INCREASING;  THAT THEIR BUSINESS WAS AT  PRE-COVID NUMBERS EARLY THIS MONTH,  AND THAT EMPLOYEES WHO HAD ASSIGNED OTHER DUTIES WERE BACK AND WORKING IN THEIR NORMAL DEPARTMENTS.

ACTIVITY AT LIFECARE AND AT ALTRU CLINICS WAS DRAMATICALLY REDUCED DURING THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF THE PANDEMIC.

 

ROSEAU COUNTY HAS REPLACED IT’S  CURRENT ASSISTED VOTING DEVICE WITH AN  OMNI-BALLOT.

THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE AT POLLING PLACES AND AT THE ROSEAU COUNTYAUDITOR’S OFFICE.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL MEETS IN SPECIAL SESSION THIS EVENING.

THE AGENDA INCLUDES A RESOLUTION ASKING CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION TO RESTORE HOURS AT THE ROSEAU PORT OF ENTRY AND CONTINUE TO PURSUE OPTIONS FOR A 24 HOUR PORT OPERATION.

 

THE CITY OF GREENBUSH CONTINUES TO DISCUSS RE-OPENING PLANS FOR IT’S COMMUNITY CENTER.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD MEETS THIS EVENING IN REGULAR MONTHLY SESSION.

 

THE ROSEAU PROBATION OFFICE IS GETTING ATTENTION FROM OTHER STATES AND AT LEAST ONE OTHER COUNTRY FOR IT’S VIRTUAL WORK WITH PROBATION CLIENTS.

THE NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS DISTRICT STARTED DOING VIRTUAL VISITS,  VIRTUAL CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY TREATMENT,  AND VIRTUAL COGNITIVE BEHAVIOR AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE GROUPS THIS SPRING  BECAUSE OF COVID RESTRICTIONS.

 

SUPPORTERS OF LEGALIZED MARIJUANA IN MINNESOTA THINK SOME FOLKS WHO ARE IN FAVOR MIGHT MAKE A STATEMENT WITH THEIR VOTES IN A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION YEAR.

SOME MINNESOTA HOUSE DEMOCRATS HAD PLANNED A PUSH FOR A LEGALIZATION BILL DURING THE 2020 SESSION,  BUT THAT PLAN WAS DERAILED BY THE COVID CRISIS.

 

A PUBLIC GRAVESIDE SERVICE FOR  DONALD  McFARLANE OF BAUDETTE IS TOMORROW AT NOON AT THE HILLSIDE  (ZIPPEL)  CEMETERY IN RURAL BAUDETTE.

GRAVESIDE SERVICES FOR BEVERLY  PEARSON/LINDGREN OF ROSEAU  (AND FORMERLY OF SALOL)  ARE WEDNESDAY MORNING AT TEN AT THE NORLAND CEMETERY.

ALL IN ATTENDANCE ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS.

THE COMMISSION ON JUDICIAL SELECTION IS RECOMMENDING THREE CANDIDATES FOR A VACANCY IN THE 9TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT,  TO REPLACE THE RETIRING JUDGE PAUL BENSHOOF IN BEMIDJI.

THE CANDIDATES ARE ASSISTANT CASS COUNTY ATTORNEY JEANINE BRAND;  TOM KUESEL,  WHO OPERATES A PRIVATE LAW FIRM IN NORTHERN MINNESOTA;  AND ASSISTANT POLK COUNTY ATTORNEY  CLIFFORD WARDLAW.

ROSEAU IS ONE OF SEVENTEEN COUNTIES IN THE 9TH DISTRICT.

 

STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAVE LISLEGARD OF AURORA HAS BEEN APPOINTED TO THE STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL ON MENTAL HEALTH.

LISLEGARD HAS RELATIVES IN ROSEAU COUNTY.
