THE SUPERINTENDENT OF TRI-COUNTY SCHOOLS IN KARLSTAD IS ON PAID LEAVE AFTER AN ARREST ON SATURDAY FOR SECOND-DEGREE DWI. MICHAEL RENE GADBOIS WAS ARRESTED WITH A BLOOD ALCOHOL LEVEL OF .21, WHEN HE WAS FOUND IN A SCHOOL OWNED MINIVAN ON SCHOOL PROPERTY. THE DISTRICT WILL LIKELY LOOK TO A NEIGHBORING DISTRICT FOR HELP WITH LEADERSHIP AS THE INVESTIGATION AND CASE MOVE FORWARD.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED A PRELIMINARY SEVEN PERCENT LEVY INCREASE FOR 2022, AND APPROVED AN EXPENDITURE BUDGET FOR NEXT YEAR OF JUST OVER TWENTY-NINE-POINT-SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS. THE STATE REQUIRES THE COUNTY TO APPROVE THOSE BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER, AND MUST FINALIZE A LEVY AND BUDGET BY THE END OF DECEMBER.

BELTRAMI COUNTY VETERANS SERVICE OFFICER SCOTTY ALLISON MET WITH THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD THIS WEEK, SHOWING PLANS FOR A VETERANS HOME IN BEMIDJI WHICH IS EXPECTED TO BE OPEN IN TEH SUMMER OF 2023. ROSEAU COUNTY CONTRIBUTED THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS TOWARDS THAT BUILDING PROJECT.

A VISITATION FOR LAMAE R. LUNDBOHM WILL BE HELD AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU ON MONDAY (5-7 PM). A SERVICE WILL BE HELD TUESDAY MORNING (10 AM) AT MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSEAU, WITH INTERMENT AT RIVERSIDE CEMETERY IN WARROAD.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR DONALD W. CASTLE OF BAUDETTE WILL BE HELD TOMORROW (1 PM) AT CORNERSTONE ASSEMBLY CHURCH IN BAUDETTE. VISITATION WILL BE THIS EVENING (5-7) AT THE CHURCH AND ALSO ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE SERVICE ON SUNDAY. DONALD CASTLE SR. WAS 83.

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR MARVIN ANDERSON OF BAUDETTE WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY (11 AM) AT WABANICA LUTHERAN CHURCH IN BAUDETTE. VISITATION WILL BE SUNDAY EVENING (5-7) WITH A 7:00 PRAYER SERVICE AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN BAUDETTE. INTERMENT AT WABANICA CEMETERY. MARVIN ANDERSON WAS 88.

A SPAGHETTI FEED BENEFIT FOR DANNY BERGSTROM IS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 7TH AT GENES IN ROSEAU FROM 4-7. PROCEEDS WILL HELP WITH MEDICAL EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH A HEART TRANSPLANT.

A PLASTIC BAG FEE, THAT WAS DELAYED THREE TIMES DURING THE PANDEMIC, IS SET TO GO INTO EFFECT IN DULUTH OCTOBER 15TH. THE ORDINANCE WILL HAVE BUSINESSES CHARGE CUSTOMERS A NICKLE PER PLASTIC BAG.
