COUNTIES THROUGHOUT NORTHWEST MINNESOTA AND THE RED RIVER VALLEY ARE BUSY PREPARING FOR SPRING FLOODING, BUT THEY ALSO SAY THAT PRETTY STANDARD PROCEDURE. GRAND FORKS COUNTY IS MOVING NEARLY THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND SANDBAGS, WHILE KITTSON COUNTY IS PREPARING FIVE HUNDRED, ALONG WITH ROAD CLOSURE SIGNS, SMALL RING DIKES AND OTHER FLOOD PROTECTION TOOLS. THE LAST FLOOD OUTLOOK SAID SIGNIFICANT FLOODING CAN BE EXPECTED, ALTHOUGH IT’S NOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE WORST THAT WE’VE ALREADY SEEN. AND UPDATED FLOOD FORECAST IS DUE EARLY NEXT WEEK.

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD WILL MEET IN SPECIAL SESSION AT NOON ON TUESDAY. THEY’LL MOSTLY BE LOOKING AT THE PROCESS FOR HIRING A NEW SUPERINTENDENT, AS LARRY GUGGISBERG RECENTLY SAID HE’LL BE RESIGNING AFTER THIS SCHOOL YEAR.

REPUBLICAN STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAN FABIAN OF ROSEAU SAYS THE GOVERNOR’S DECISION TO CONTINUE A CHALLENGE OF THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION’S APPROVAL OF THE ENBRIDGE LINE THREE REPLACEMENT PIPELINE WILL HAVE  “NEGATIVE REPERCUSSIONS FOR NORTHERN MINNESOTA”. ENBRIDGE SAID THIS WEEK THEY’RE DELAYING THE OPENING OF THE NEW PIPELINE TO THE SECOND HALF OF  2020.

A ROSEAU SCHOOL DISTRICT TASK FORCE CONTINUES MEETINGS ON BUILDING OR RENOVATION PLANS FOR THE OLDEST PARTS OF THE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING. SUPERINTENDENT LARRY GUGGISBERG SAYS THE ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO FIND SCHOOL BOARD CONSENSUS FOR A PLAN TO PRESENT TO VOTERS

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  LAST NIGHT,  RE-APPOINTED CRAIG McMILLIN FIRE CHIEF. MARK BERNAT IS THE ASSISTANT CHIEF;  TROY HAMMER IS CAPTAIN;  AND LEON HUOT AND JEREMY GRINDELAND ARE LIEUTENANTS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PRESIDENT IS EVAN ROSEMORE.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  MET WITH ROSEAU COUNTY FAIR BOARD SECRETARY RICHARD MAGNUSSON –  WHO SAID THE TUESDAY GRANDSTAND ENTERTAINMENT THIS SUMMER WILL BE MUSICIANS AND COMEDIANS  WILLIAMS AND REE. IT’LL BE THEIR 3RD APPEARANCE AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIR.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MILDRED FRISLIE OF BADGER ARE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT FOUR   AT OILAND FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN RURAL GREENBUSH. MILDRED FRISLIE WAS  83.
