TODAY IN MINNESOTA, EDIBLE CANNABIS PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN THC, THE INGREDIENT THAT PRODUCES A HIGH, BECOME LEGAL TO PURCHASE IN MINNESOTA FOR THOSE WHO ARE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER. THE PRODUCTS MUST NOT CONTAIN MORE THAN 5 MILLIGRAMS OF THC, AND A PACKAGE CANNOT CONTAIN MORE THAN 50 MILLIGRAMS. IN CALIFORNIA, WHERE RECREATIONAL CANNABIS IS LEGAL, THE EDIBLE PRODUCTS ARE CAPPED AT 10 MILLIGRAMS, BUT THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF CANNABIS CONTROL ADMITS THAT FIRST TIME USERS WOULD BE ADVISED TO TAKE DOSES OF 5 MILLIGRAMS OR LESS. THE LAW WAS PASSED TO PREVENT THE SALE OF LESS SAFE VERSIONS. THERE ARE RULES REGARDING THE PACKAGING AND MARKETING OF THE PRODUCTS SO THEY DO NOT APPEAR CHILD FRIENDLY.
