The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has imposed water restrictions for much of the state. Utilities are to limit water use to no more than 25% above January levels. The restrictions apply to about 300 communities within three major watersheds which include the Mississippi River Headwaters and the Rainy River and Red River. That covers the Twin Cities, nearly all of central Minnesota and much of northern Minnesota.

MINNESOTA SAW IT’S LARGEST GAIN IN TOTAL EMPLOYMENT SINCE MARCH, AND UNEMPLOYMENT TICKED DOWN TO 3.9%, THAT’S DOWN FROM 4% IN JUNE.

A RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY ON THE PHASE 1 PORTION OF THE ROSEAU SCHOOL PROJECT WILL BE HELD AT 11:30 NEXT WEDNESDAY, JUST OUTSIDE OF THAT PORTION OF THE BUILDING. THEY’LL OFFER SNACKS, FRESHMENTS, AND TOURS OF THE BUILDING.

GROUND WILL BE BROKEN ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST ON TEH ELVEN01 APARTMENT PROJECT BEING BUILT IN ROSEAU. IN TOTAL, THAT APARTMENT BUILDING WILL OFFER 37 UNITS, RANGING FROM STUDIOS TO THREE BEDROOMS.

THE BADGER SCHOOL IS HOSTING A BACK TO SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE, WITH A PICNIC MEAL AND MEET N’ GREET WITH TEACHERS ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST FROM 5:30-7:30. THE GREENBUSH-MIDDLE RIVER SCHOOL HAS A SIMILAR EVENT THE SAME DAY, FROM 5:00-7:00.

 

THE EARLY PART OF SEPTEMBER WILL BRING HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION DAYS TO ROSEAU COUNTY. THAT’S IN WARROAD ON SEPTEMBER 2ND, ROSEAU ON SEPTEMBER 9TH, AND BADGER AND GREENBUSH ON SEPTEMBER 10TH.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR HELEN MORRISON, WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, AUGUST 28TH AT THE RIVERDALE CEMETERY, EAST OF BAUDETTE ON HIGHWAY 11. THE OLD JOHN MORRISON FARM ON THE RAINY RIVER IS AN ALTERNATE LOCATION, IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER. HELEN MORRISON WAS 91.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR MARIAN EVERSON OF GREENBUSH WILL BE HELD THIS FRIDAY (11 AM) AT BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH IN GREENBUSH. VISITATION WILL BE THURSDAY (5:00-7:00) WITH A 7:00 PRAYER SERVICE, AND ALSO ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE SERVICE. PRIVATE INTERMENT SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT BETHEL LUTHERAN CEMETERY AT A LATER DATE. MARIAN EVERSON WAS 101.

MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR ROSEANN LEE OF BADGER WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY (2 PM) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU, WITH VISITATION ONE HOUR PRIOR. INTERMENT WILL BE AT ROSELUND CEMETERY. ROSEANN LEE WAS 75.

THE CONTROL LINES ARE HOLDING WELL AROUND BOTH OF THE LAKE OF THE WOODS COUNTY FIRES, WITH NEITHER THE SQUARE FIRE OR NORTH NORRIS FIRE GAINING ANY SIZE OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS. TEAMS SAY THE NORRIS FIRE IS 30% CONTAINED, AND SQUARE FIRE 10% CONTAINED.

MINNESOTA LAW ENFORCEMENT IS VOICING THEIR CONCERNS FOR SAFETY AS WE PREPARE FOR ANOTHER SCHOOL YEAR. IN 2019, OVER 1100 CITATIONS WERE WRITTEN IN MINNESOTA FOR SCHOOL BUS STOP-ARM VIOLATIONS. LAST YEAR THE NUMBER WAS ONLY 505, BUT THERE WERE FAR FEWER BUSES ON THE ROADS DUE TO DISTANCE LEARNING OR HYBRID MODELS. A SURVEY OF BUS DRIVERS, SAYS THAT 1 OUT OF 3 DRIVERS WILL SEE ONE OF THESE INCIDENTS EVERY DAY.

HUNDRED OF LINE 3 PROTESTERS DEMONSTRATED IN DULUTH YESTERDAY, BRIEFLY OCCUPYING AND SHUTTING DOWN ALL TRAFFIC ON THE AERIAL LIFT BRIDGE. DULUTH POLICE RESPONDED AND WERE ABLE TO CLEAR THE BRIDGE AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES. THE PROTEST REMAINED MOSTLY CALM, AND NO ARRESTS WERE MADE.
