A public graveside service following Minnesota State guidelines for social distancing will be held for Irene Schultz of Roseau at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 11 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Badger. The family will have a private Mass of Christian Burial.

Irene Caroline Schultz was born on October 11, 1929 to Henry and Coletta (Diesberg) Dickhausen in Wales, ND.

Irene married the love of her life, Leon Frank Schultz, on September 19, 1950 and shared 65 beautiful years together. Leon and Irene settled in Roseau, MN where they raised 4 children and started an aerial spraying business, Schultz’s North Air Flite, with Leon as the pilot and Irene as the bookkeeper. Even though Leon was a wonderful pilot, Irene never overcame her fear of flying.  After Leon’s passing, Irene spent a short time with her sister Marjorie Mikkelsen in Langdon, ND and near her sister Lenore Rodamaker in Nashua, IA.  She returned to Roseau in August of 2018 and spent this past year living at the Warroad Senior Living Center.

Irene was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to many.  She cherished all of her relationships, but especially the ones with her grandchildren.  She will be remembered for her love of Christmas, her giving spirit, and her beautiful smile.Irene enjoyed being a member of “The Best Bridge Club in Roseau County,” and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Roseau. She enjoyed gardening, country living and spending her summers on Lake Belle Taine in Nevis, MN with family.

Always fun loving and full of spunk she will be deeply missed by her four children, Pamela (the late George) Terry of Graham, TX;  Gregory (Sharon) Schultz of Greenbush, MN; Cynthia Schultz of Austin, TX; Lynn (Philip) Krahn of Wyoming, MN; her beloved grandchildren: Christopher (Brooke) Schultz of Hertford, NC; Erica (Luke) Harren of Austin, Texas; Chelsea (Addison) Urbalejo of Cambridgeshire, England; Jeffery (Brittney) Schultz of Minneapolis, MN; Taylor Krahn of Plymouth, MN, Jaime Schultz of Austin, TX, Heather (Kris) Rittle, Grand Forks, ND; Great grandchildren: Skyler Schultz; Carter Hennek; Fin Ha rren; Grant Urbalejo and baby Schultz arriving in December; sisters-in-law: Gladys Novotny and Cathy Christian; her special visitor/friend Anna Krahn; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Irene passed away peacefully at the Warroad Senior Living Center on August 8, 2020 at the age of 90 years and 10 months, with family by her side. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Leon Schultz (March 16, 2015); parents Henry and Coletta Dickhausen; sisters: Lenore Rodamaker; Edith Dickhausen; Marjorie Mikkelsen; brothers: Frank Dickhausen, William Dickhausen and Louis Dickhausen and son-in-law George Terry Jr.  She will be welcomed with open arms into the kingdom of Heaven by so many of her loved ones.

We want to thank the staff at Northern Horizons Assisted Living and The Warroad Senior Living Center for loving Irene and taking such good care of her the last two years of her life.
