Memorial services for Gary “Bud” Borgen of Port Austin, MI, and formerly of Badger, MN will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Visitation will be one hour prior, military honors by the Roseau Memorial Honor Squad; and interment at Badger City Cemetery.

Gary “Bud” Borgen, 79, of Port Austin, Michigan, died on Monday, March 1, 2021.  He was born on October 18, 1941, the son of the late George and Millie (Foss) Borgen in Badger, Minnesota.

He and Gretchen Fritz were married on February 3, 1968 In Grand Forks, North Dakota.  He achieved a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of North Dakota, and a Master’s Degree in Business Education from California State Polytechnic University. Gary was an Air Force Veteran. He worked for General Dynamics for 35 years retiring in 2003. He and his wife moved to Port Austin in 2004.

Gary had a love for Muscle Cars and spent time restoring and showing them.  He also enjoyed most sports.  He was a member of the Port Austin American Legion, Frank Horetski Post 499.

Gary is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gretchen; his daughters: Dawn Foltz of Almont, MI and Kerri (Thomas) Kohl of Washington, MI.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Connor, Carson, and Cameron Kohl, and his sister, Gayle Rice.  He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Roy Rice.
