Chancy Cole Jr. was born May 21st, 1935 to Chancy Cole Sr. and Lenora (Otto) Cole at their home south of Winner, MN. He and his folks moved to Moranville Township south of Warroad in 1940, when the government relocated those who lived in what is now Beltrami Island State Forest. He attended school at Freeman District 82 through 7th grade and finished his schooling in Warroad. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad.

Chancy married the love of his life, Jeanette (Fortier) Cole on June 16th, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warroad. They were blessed with 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Chancy and Jeanette have lived in the same home in Lake Township since 1962.

Chancy, along with his brother, Mark Cole of Warroad, MN, did farming, logging, raising beef cattle and had a sawmill for many years (all with the help of their children, their wives, brothers, and several nephews and friends!). He was on the Lake Township board for 30 years, and also did the road grading and snow plowing. He retired from that in 2010.

Chancy enjoyed fishing, farming, hunting, repairing old John Deere tractors, telling stories about past adventures and mowing the lawn. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, children – Les (Fern) Cole of Warroad, MN, Gary (Pat) Cole of Williams, MN and Shelly Bowles of Emporia, VA, 10 grandchildren – Kristy, Jessica, Nicole, Heidi, Rick, Zach, Whitney, Austin, Sofia and Garret, 25 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, siblings – brother Jerry (Thelma) Cole of Musselshell, MT, Mark (Sharon) Cole of Warroad, MN, Beverly (Clint) Gibbons of Warroad, MN, Byron (Pam) Cole of Warroad, MN and Donna (Bill) Hutchens of Fairbanks, AK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Cindy Louise, infant son, Glen Dale and brother, Leonard (Cristal) Cole of Williams, MN.

Chancy went to meet his Savior on Friday, June 3rd, 2022 at the Roseau Hospital, after a long battle with heart-related issues. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and loved all them very much.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Chancy at Lake Township Hall in Warroad, MN at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 11th, 2022.
