ARNOLD “ARNE” THOMPSON

A Memorial Service for Arnold “Arne” Thompson of Clearbrook, MN and formerly of Warroad will be held on Wednesday, July 3, at 11:00 AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Warroad.

Arne Thompson passed away on Tuesday, June 25 at the age of 66.

Arnold M. Thompson was born on December 24, 1952 in Warroad, MN to Maynard and Myrtle (Carlson) Thompson. He attended elementary and high school in Warroad, graduating in 1970. On January 22, 1971, Arne enlisted in the Army. He served his country until his honorable discharge on July 21, 1974. After his discharge he moved back to Warroad, where he worked various jobs throughout the years, including Marvin Windows & Doors, driving bus, logging, and farming. He worked at L&M Fleet in Bemidji for several years before moving to Roseau to work at Polaris Industries. In April of 2012 Arne suffered a massive heart attack; for many years he struggled with Congestive Heart Failure which would eventually lead to his passing.

Arne had three sons, Nathan, Nolan and Nicolas. Arne enjoyed playing softball and coaching girl’s fast pitch softball. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, raising cattle, playing cards, basketball, and he was a member of the Warroad High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Arne is survived by his sons Nathan (Sara) Thompson and their children, Jace, Grady, and Kael of Warroad, Nolan (Jana) Thompson and their children Jayde, Andrew, Bo, Brock, and Ayden of Warroad, Nicolas (Jennifer) Thompson and their children Autumn, Grace, and Anders of Argyle, MN; step-daughter, Heather Evans of CO.; siblings Joyce (Rich) Siegert of Bemidji, MN, Karla (Terry Paliwoda) Tansey of Houston, TX, Kathy (Dan) Domeier of Bemidji, MN, Bill (Wanda) Thompson of Warroad, MN, Jeff (Evi) Thompson of Bemidji, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gary and David Anthony.
